Warm all winter. Cool all summer. Installed right.
I design and install ductless mini-split heat pumps for homes within about 45 minutes of Richmond, VT. A career spent helping Vermonters save energy and cut carbon behind every job.
Efficient heat that keeps working when it's ten below
Ductless heat pumps pull heat from the outside air, even in a Vermont January, and deliver it quietly to the rooms you use most. In summer the same system runs in reverse as air conditioning.
Dialed-in comfort: make every room as warm or as cool as you want. A typical single-room system goes in within a day, and many homeowners use one to cut back on oil or propane while keeping their existing system as backup (though that's optional).

Built for cold
Cold-climate models that keep heating well below zero, sized for your actual home, not a rule of thumb.
Lower heating costs
Heat pumps are often far cheaper to run than oil, propane, or electric baseboard for the same warmth.

A warmer home and a lighter carbon footprint
I've spent my career helping people use less energy and burn less fuel. Every install I do is built around two goals: a home that's comfortable in every season, and the biggest cut in carbon your system can deliver.
Burn less oil and propane
A heat pump only cuts carbon when it's doing the heating. I size and place each unit so it can carry your home through winter, and set things up so your old system only steps in when it's truly needed.
Sealed tight, no leaks
The refrigerant inside a heat pump is a greenhouse gas thousands of times more potent than carbon dioxide. I'm certified to handle it, and I test every system for leaks before it's charged, so what goes in stays in.
Done right the first time
I developed and ran programs built to make sure heat pumps were installed well. I know what separates a system that performs from one that disappoints, and I hold my own work to that standard.
Hi, I'm Jake Marin
My whole career has been about helping people save energy and cut carbon. I spent 15 years at Efficiency Vermont running heating, cooling, and refrigeration programs, including programs focused on one thing: making sure installations were done right. I worked with installers across the state and saw firsthand what separates a great heat pump install from a disappointing one.
Now I do the installs myself. If you want it done right, I'm the one to hire. When you reach out to Marin Heat Pumps, you get me: the same person for the visit, the quote, the install, and any questions afterward.

Common questions
Do heat pumps really work in a Vermont winter?
Yes. Today's cold-climate models are rated to keep producing heat well below zero. The key is choosing the right model and sizing it for your home and the way you want to use it, which is exactly what the home visit is for.
Will a heat pump really shrink my carbon footprint?
In most homes, yes, especially if it's taking over from oil or propane. How much depends on two things: how much of your heating the heat pump actually does, and whether its refrigerant stays sealed inside. I design and install for both.
Can I keep my furnace or boiler?
Absolutely. Many people use a ductless heat pump as their main heat for most of the year and keep their existing system as backup for the coldest nights or simply for peace of mind.
How long does installation take?
A single-room system is usually a one-day job. More complex jobs can take a few days or more. I'll give you a clear timeline with your quote.
Are there rebates?
Often, yes. Vermont utilities and state programs have offered incentives for qualifying cold-climate heat pumps, and amounts change over time. I'll tell you what's currently available for your situation.
What does a ductless system cost?
It depends on how many rooms you want to heat and cool and how your home is laid out. The home visit and estimate are free, so you'll know your exact price before deciding anything.
